Apricot 'Fireball' (Prunus Armeniaca) is a stunning variety is known for its smooth, dark orange skin and incredibly sweet, juicy flavour. Rich in Vitamin A, this self-pollinating apricot is perfect for home gardeners seeking a reliable and delicious fruit for fresh eating or preserves. Although self-fertile, cross-pollination with another apricot or plum will enhance fruit production.
This variety thrives in well-drained soil and full to partial sun exposure, offering a refreshing treat with fruit maturing from November to December. It’s an excellent choice for a feature tree or for smaller gardens. While Apricot Fireball is generally drought-tolerant, it is susceptible to early frost, so plant it in a protected location. Water the tree well until it is established and use slow-release fertilizer during planting and after new growth appears. Pruning encourages healthy growth.
