These seedlings were grown from the brilliant Acer Palmatum ‘Okagami’ (Japanese Maple – Okagami), a striking upright variety admired for its rich red foliage and strong growth habit. While each seedling is genetically unique, many will inherit the parent’s vibrant colour tones and elegant form, producing attractive canopies that showcase deep red hues through spring and summer, followed by intense autumn colour.
A Japanese Maple is a standout addition to any garden, offering year-round interest with stunning foliage that transforms through all four seasons. However, due to the time-intensive growing and grafting process, they can often be quite expensive. These seed-grown ‘Okagami’ seedlings provide a more affordable way to enjoy the bold colour and structure of this variety, while allowing you to grow your own tree from its earliest stages. They are also excellent for bonsai training, developing fine branching and strong seasonal contrast.
With good care, they can reach mature height over approximately 10–15 years, depending on growing conditions.
Please note: each plant is unique and may not be fully root bound at the time of purchase. The plant details below are based on the typical characteristics of the parent variety and may vary slightly between seedlings.
