We’re proud to offer this rare collection of seed-grown Japanese Maples, each with its own unique character, colour, and growth potential. Unlike grafted varieties, these trees are grown from seed, meaning every one is genetically distinct — a true one-of-a-kind. Selected from the legacy of a grower who began importing Japanese Maples into Australia in the 1970s, these trees represent decades of careful cultivation.
JP21 stands at approximately 700mm high, with an upright, lightly branched form that will develop with time. The long, finely serrated leaves display a dynamic mix of yellow-green, orange, and red tones as the season changes. Some leaf edges show signs of seasonal crisping, typical for deciduous trees heading into dormancy. This compact maple offers elegant structure and vivid autumn colour, perfect for pots, courtyards, or small feature plantings.
Each tree in this collection has its own natural variation in growth habit, leaf shape, colour patterns, and seasonal changes. It’s an exciting opportunity to own a Japanese Maple that no one else has — with the possibility of discovering something truly exceptional.
Japanese Maples are deciduous trees, which means they lose their leaves in autumn and winter. As the seasons change, the foliage will naturally begin to turn brown and crisp before dropping entirely. This is a normal and healthy part of their cycle. During winter, the trees will be bare, but this is actually the best time to plant. Cooler conditions reduce stress and allow the root system to settle in and establish, setting the stage for strong, healthy growth when spring arrives.
