These seedlings were grown from the renowned Acer Palmatum ‘Seiryu’ (Japanese Maple – Seiryu), the only upright laceleaf form of Japanese Maple. The parent tree is prized for its finely divided, lacy foliage combined with a strong vertical growth habit — a rare combination that gives it remarkable texture and lightness. Seedlings from ‘Seiryu’ often produce attractive dissected leaves and balanced, upright forms, with soft green spring foliage that transitions to golden and orange-red hues in autumn.

A Japanese Maple is a standout addition to any garden, offering year-round interest with stunning foliage that transforms through all four seasons. However, due to the time-intensive growing and grafting process, they can often be quite expensive. These seed-grown ‘Seiryu’ seedlings offer a more affordable way to experience this elegant variety, while providing unique opportunities for bonsai training thanks to their fine foliage and upright form.

With good care, they can reach mature height over approximately 10–15 years, depending on conditions and maintenance.

Please note: each plant is unique and may not be fully root bound at the time of purchase. The plant details below are based on the typical characteristics of the parent variety and may vary slightly between seedlings.
