Acmena Smithii ‘BWNRED’ RED HEAD™ (Red Head Lilly Pilly) is a fast-growing Australian native shrub or small tree prized for its glossy green foliage and striking flushes of red to deep claret new growth. The foliage gradually changes through chocolate tones before maturing to deep green, giving the plant strong year-round colour and visual interest. Its naturally dense habit makes it an excellent choice for hedging, screening, feature planting and formal garden designs.
In summer, clusters of small white flowers are followed by bright purple edible berries, adding seasonal interest and value for wildlife-friendly gardens. Red Head performs well in full sun to semi-shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. Its dense growth, adaptability and suitability for regular pruning make it a reliable option for customers wanting an attractive native hedge, privacy screen or specimen plant.
