Agave Ovatifolia (Whale’s Tongue Agave)

Agave Ovatifolia is a striking evergreen succulent admired for its broad, cupped blue-grey leaves and impressive symmetrical rosette. The thick, fleshy leaves resemble a whale’s tongue and feature small marginal teeth with a sharp terminal spine. Its bold architectural form makes it an excellent feature plant for contemporary landscapes, succulent gardens, rockeries and large decorative containers.

Slow-growing and highly drought tolerant once established, Whale’s Tongue Agave performs best in full sun and freely draining soil. After many years, mature plants can produce a spectacular tall flower spike bearing clusters of greenish-yellow flowers. Each rosette flowers only once before dying, making the flowering event a dramatic feature in the garden.
