Agonis Flexuosa ‘After Dark’ is a striking Australian native tree prized for its dramatic, deep burgundy to almost black foliage and graceful weeping habit. New growth can emerge with rich red tones before maturing to dark purple, giving the tree outstanding year-round colour and contrast. Its elegant, fine foliage makes it an excellent feature tree for contemporary gardens, mixed landscapes, driveways, or as an informal screening plant.
In spring to early summer, small white flowers appear among the dark foliage, creating an attractive contrast and adding seasonal interest. ‘After Dark’ performs best in full sun to part shade and prefers well-drained soil. Once established, it has good drought and coastal tolerance, while occasional pruning helps maintain a dense, attractive form. Its distinctive colour, manageable size, and relatively low maintenance requirements make it an excellent choice for gardeners wanting a bold Australian native statement plant.
