Alcantarea ‘PITA’ is a spectacular variegated bromeliad selected from a wild-collected sport of Alcantarea extensa. Discovered in Espírito Santo, Brazil, this distinctive cultivar is prized for its bold creamy-white leaf margins contrasting beautifully with the naturally glaucous green foliage.
A large-growing bromeliad, ‘PITA’ develops an impressive architectural rosette that can reach approximately 1.5m across and 90cm tall. The leaves feature subtle bands of trichomes that add further texture and interest to the foliage.
One of its most desirable characteristics is its stable albomargination. After flowering, the plant produces offsets that consistently retain the same creamy-white margins as the parent plant, making it an excellent choice for collectors and statement tropical gardens.
