Alyogyne Huegelii ‘East Coast Gem’ is a fast-growing, compact Australian native evergreen shrub prized for its prolific display of large, silky dark purple to mauve flowers. The hibiscus-like blooms contrast beautifully against deeply lobed green foliage, producing an impressive display with the main flowering flush occurring from spring through autumn.
With its naturally dense growth habit, ‘East Coast Gem’ is an excellent choice for native gardens, borders, informal hedging and low to medium screening. It grows well in full sun to part shade and adapts to most well-drained soils. Once established, it has good drought tolerance and benefits from light pruning after the main flowering flush to maintain a dense, bushy shape.
