Anigozanthos ‘Bush Ranger’ is a compact evergreen perennial hybrid prized for its distinctive fuzzy red flowers shaped like kangaroo paws. The tubular blooms are held on upright stems reaching approximately 60–90cm and appear from spring through autumn, creating a long-lasting display above the clumping foliage.
Native to Australia and well adapted to warm, dry conditions, ‘Bush Ranger’ is an excellent choice for coastal and Mediterranean-style gardens, borders, edging, containers and mass planting. It performs best in full sun, where it produces the strongest flowering, but can tolerate light shade.
This hardy kangaroo paw prefers sandy, gritty or slightly acidic soil with excellent drainage. It has low to moderate water requirements and becomes drought tolerant once established. It is also noted for resistance to deer, rabbits, fire and Verticillium wilt.
