Anigozanthos Hybrid ‘Ruby Velvet’ (Ruby Velvet Kangaroo Paw) is a compact, eye-catching perennial featuring clean, strappy green foliage and an abundance of striking deep ruby-red flowers. The velvety blooms are held on upright stems above the foliage, creating a strong vertical display and bringing rich colour to garden beds, pots and landscape plantings. Its vibrant flowers are also attractive to nectar-feeding birds, adding wildlife value to the garden.
A tough and relatively low-maintenance choice, Anigozanthos Hybrid ‘Ruby Velvet’ (Ruby Velvet Kangaroo Paw) is particularly well suited to feature pots, borders, mass planting and water-wise landscapes. Its compact foliage reaches around 30–40cm, while the flower stems rise to approximately 70–80cm, providing impressive colour without requiring a large planting footprint. Once established, it tolerates drought and frost and performs best in full sun and well-drained soil.
