Betula nigra ‘Dura Heat’ is a superior, heat-tolerant selection of the river birch, prized for its attractive peeling bark, lush foliage, and ability to thrive in challenging conditions. This deciduous tree features creamy-tan to salmon-colored bark that exfoliates beautifully, adding strong winter interest. In spring, brownish-green catkins appear, followed by fresh green leaves that turn buttery yellow in autumn.
‘Dura Heat’ is widely valued for its environmental adaptability—tolerating clay soil, wet soil, heat, humidity, and urban pollution. It is one of the toughest and most disease-resistant birches available, making it ideal for residential landscapes, parks, and rain gardens.
