Bulbine bulbosa (Bulbine Lily / Golden Lily) is a fragrant, perennial Australian native herb that produces vibrant yellow star-shaped flowers from spring through early autumn. It grows from a corm and naturally occurs across eastern and southern Australia, from Queensland to Tasmania, thriving on a variety of soil types and tolerating frost.
This hardy plant is ideal for rockeries, flower gardens, and containers, forming large, attractive clumps. While it prefers moist conditions, the corms can survive dry periods and will resprout when irrigation resumes. The plant’s corms are edible when roasted, though the above-ground foliage is toxic if consumed in large quantities. Bulbine bulbosa can be propagated from seed or by dividing established clumps.
