Callistemon ‘Wee Johnnie’ is a compact, dwarf bottlebrush cultivar selected for its neat growth habit, attractive grey foliage, and prolific displays of vivid red flowers. Bred by Ian Shimmen of Bushland Flora, this hardy shrub is a selected dwarf form of Callistemon viminalis hybrid, making it significantly smaller and more manageable than traditional bottlebrush varieties.
Flowering from mid to late spring, ‘Wee Johnnie’ produces masses of classic bottlebrush blooms that attract birds and pollinators. Its dense, compact form and low maintenance requirements make it an excellent choice for borders, rockeries, low hedging, and feature planting in both residential and commercial landscapes.
Adaptable and resilient, this variety tolerates dry conditions once established and copes well with medium frosts, making it a reliable performer in a wide range of climates.
