De Coppi Marone Chestnut is a vigorous, long-lived deciduous tree with an attractive bell-shaped canopy, deeply textured bark and glossy, serrated green foliage that develops golden-brown tones during autumn. Cream-coloured summer catkins are followed by chartreuse-green burrs containing large, smooth-textured chestnuts that fall freely when ripe.
Considered one of the finest chestnuts for roasting, its nuts have a rich, sweet flavour and an easy-to-remove inner skin. This productive mid- to late-season variety makes an excellent addition to a spacious home orchard, farm or edible landscape while also providing generous summer shade. Plant it with another compatible chestnut variety to ensure effective cross-pollination and well-filled burrs.
