Centaurea gymnocarpa – Velvet Centaurea

Centaurea gymnocarpa, commonly known as Velvet Centaurea, is an attractive evergreen perennial valued for its soft, silvery foliage and low-growing groundcover habit. It is well suited to temperate, Mediterranean and subtropical gardens, where its foliage provides year-round texture and colour.

This moderate-growing plant performs best in full sun and well-drained soil. Once established, it has good tolerance of poor and dry conditions and requires relatively little water. It appreciates a cool winter and is particularly well suited to mild climates where it can be planted from spring through autumn.
