Chlorophytum comosum ‘Variegatum’, commonly known as the Variegated Spider Plant, is a popular evergreen houseplant prized for its graceful arching foliage and easy-care nature. This attractive cultivar features slender green leaves edged with crisp white margins, creating a bright and fresh appearance.
As the plant matures, it produces delicate white, star-shaped flowers on long arching stems. Small plantlets develop along these stems, eventually dangling freely to create the characteristic “spider” appearance. Flowering and plantlet production are often encouraged as the days become shorter in autumn.
Native to South Africa, this adaptable plant is excellent for hanging baskets, shelves, desks, containers and indoor displays. Its cascading growth also makes it an attractive choice for shaded patios and sheltered outdoor areas in suitable climates.
