Citrus × microcarpa, commonly known as Calamondin Standard, is an elegant evergreen citrus tree trained into a classic standard form with a single clear trunk and a rounded canopy. This ornamental yet highly productive citrus is valued for its glossy green foliage, fragrant white blossoms, and abundant bright orange fruits that remain on the tree for extended periods, creating year-round visual appeal.
A natural hybrid between a mandarin and a kumquat, Calamondin produces small, tangy edible fruits that are widely used in drinks, marmalades, sauces, desserts, and Asian cuisine. The standard form is perfect for feature planting in gardens, patios, courtyards, entrances, and large decorative pots. Grown in full sun with well-drained soil, it offers reliable flowering and fruiting while requiring only minimal maintenance. In cooler climates, container-grown plants can be protected indoors during winter.
