The Shamouti Jaffa Orange is a historic and highly prized citrus variety, originally developed in the mid-19th century by Arab growers in the region near Jaffa, Israel. Evolving as a mutation of Egyptian Baladi oranges, this variety is celebrated for its sweet, seedless fruit, thick peel, and exceptional cold tolerance.
The tree is medium-sized, thornless, with open branching, making it suitable for both ornamental and productive garden plantings. Its long shelf life and robust skin made it a key export fruit and a staple in citrus trade for over a century.
