Cleistocactus Strausii, commonly known as Silver Torch Cactus, is an elegant columnar cactus prized for its tall upright stems densely covered in fine silvery-white spines. The shimmering silver appearance creates a striking architectural feature in xeriscape gardens, rockeries, succulent collections, and contemporary landscapes. Over time, the plant develops multiple stems from the base, forming an impressive clump that adds height, texture, and year-round visual interest.
Exceptionally drought-tolerant and easy to maintain, Silver Torch Cactus thrives in full sun and well-drained soils. Mature plants may produce narrow tubular crimson-red flowers near the tops of the stems during warmer months, adding a vibrant contrast to the silvery foliage. With its distinctive colour, strong vertical form, and low water requirements, Cleistocactus Strausii is a superb choice for water-wise gardens and collector plantings.
