Corydalis Flexuosa ‘Porcelain Blue’ is a compact perennial prized for its remarkable porcelain-blue to electric-blue tubular flowers held above finely divided, blue-green foliage with subtle bronze tones. Forming a neat clump approximately 30 cm high and wide, it brings vivid colour and delicate texture to shaded borders, woodland-style gardens, pathways, rockeries and decorative containers. Its unusual true-blue flowers make it an especially eye-catching feature for areas where brightly coloured flowering plants can be difficult to establish.
‘Porcelain Blue’ performs best in a cool, partially shaded position with moist but freely draining soil. It is relatively easy to maintain when protected from excessive heat and allowed consistent moisture, rewarding gardeners with repeat displays of brilliant blue flowers. Australian nursery information reports particularly strong flowering through autumn, winter and spring, with occasional flowers during summer, although flowering times can vary according to climate. Its compact size, distinctive foliage and exceptional flower colour make it an excellent choice for adding year-round interest to smaller garden spaces and shaded planting schemes.
