Zucchini Flowers are the vibrant golden-yellow blooms produced by the productive zucchini plant, valued both for their ornamental appeal and culinary versatility. The large, trumpet-shaped flowers appear throughout the growing season among broad, textured green foliage, with female flowers developing at the base of young zucchini fruits. Both male and female flowers are produced on the same plant.
A rewarding addition to the edible garden, Zucchini Flowers thrive in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil with regular watering. The flowers can be harvested for cooking, while allowing some female flowers to remain pollinated will provide a continuing crop of zucchini. Plants are vigorous and productive, making them well suited to vegetable gardens, raised beds and large containers where they have room to spread.
