Dypsis ambositrae is a beautiful and distinctive palm species native to Madagascar, prized for its elegant tropical appearance and striking colour contrasts. One of its most notable features is the pure white crownshaft, which contrasts beautifully with the attractively ringed trunk and deep green foliage.

New growth can emerge in shades ranging from pink to deep red, adding seasonal colour before developing into long, arching leaves. The pinnate fronds have a graceful V-shaped arrangement, giving mature specimens a lush and refined appearance.

This species has sometimes been confused in cultivation with Dypsis plumosa, but the true Dypsis ambositrae is recognised for its particularly impressive ornamental qualities. It has also demonstrated good performance in suitable warm climates and is increasingly valued by palm collectors and enthusiasts.
