Elaeagnus umbellata var. rotundifolia (Elaeagnus rotundifolia) is a hardy deciduous shrub with dense, rounded foliage and silvery-green leaves that add texture to the garden. In spring, it produces clusters of small, fragrant white to pale yellow flowers that attract pollinators, followed by abundant red spherical fruits in autumn.
Well suited to coastal areas and resilient in challenging environments, this versatile shrub grows 2–4 m tall and makes an excellent choice for hedging, screening, or naturalised plantings. Its attractive foliage, seasonal flowers, and ornamental fruit provide year-round interest with minimal maintenance.
