Hakea sericea, commonly called Silky Hakea, is a hardy, upright Australian native shrub recognised for its fine needle-like foliage and dense, prickly growth. During late winter to spring, it produces masses of white to pale pink fragrant flowers that cluster along the stems, attracting birds, bees, and other pollinators.
Its dense form provides excellent shelter and nesting habitat for small birds, while also making it a natural choice for hedging, windbreaks, and erosion control. It thrives in a variety of soils and is drought-tolerant once established.
