Hatiora salicornioides is a distinctive epiphytic cactus commonly known as the Dancing Bones Cactus due to its unusual, highly segmented stems. It forms bushy, branching clumps of slender, bottle-shaped segments that grow upright at first before arching or trailing gracefully with maturity.
This unusual structure gives it a sculptural, almost coral-like appearance, making it a striking indoor or hanging basket plant. In late winter to early spring, it produces small but attractive orange-yellow bell-shaped flowers at the tips of younger segments, adding seasonal interest to its quirky form.
Unlike desert cacti, this species naturally grows in humid, shaded environments, making it well suited to indoor conditions with bright indirect light.
