Hedera helix, commonly known as Ivy, is a vigorous, self-clinging evergreen climber that brings lush greenery and structure to walls, fences, and trellises. Its glossy, multi-lobed leaves often show pale green veins and subtle autumnal red or bronze tones. In autumn, clusters of nectar-rich greenish-yellow flowers appear, followed by black berries in winter, providing food and shelter for birds, insects, and small mammals.
Ideal for covering vertical spaces or forming dense groundcover, Ivy is highly adaptable to a variety of soils and light conditions, from full sun to full shade. It is drought-tolerant, hardy, and low-maintenance, making it a practical and attractive choice for both wildlife gardens and ornamental plantings.
