Iris versicolor, commonly known as Blue Flag Iris, is a striking herbaceous perennial prized for its elegant violet-blue flowers and graceful, sword-like foliage. Blooming in late spring to early summer, its intricate flowers bring vibrant colour and texture to ponds, rain gardens, and moist garden beds while attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
Native to North America, Blue Flag Iris thrives in consistently moist to wet soils and can even grow in shallow standing water, making it an excellent choice for water gardens and naturalised landscapes. Hardy, low-maintenance, and deer-resistant, it forms attractive clumps that gradually spread to create impressive seasonal displays.
