Leucadendron salignum ‘Safari Gold Strike’, commonly known as Safari Goldstrike Yellow Cone Bush, is an evergreen shrub prized for its upright red stems, pale green foliage and spectacular golden-yellow bracts. Its compact, rounded habit makes it an excellent feature plant for sunny gardens and mixed shrub borders.
The colourful cone-like flower heads appear at the tips of the branches during winter and spring, creating a striking display. The long-lasting bracts are also highly valued for cut-flower arrangements, retaining their colour and form well after harvesting.
‘Safari Gold Strike’ performs best in full sun and acidic, well-drained soil. It is relatively low maintenance once established but should not be fertilised with phosphorus-rich products, as Proteaceae are sensitive to phosphorus.
