Leucadendron salignum ‘Safari Sunset’ is a striking evergreen shrub known for its tall, compact form, upright red stems and colourful winter-to-spring display. Its narrow, oval green leaves provide an attractive backdrop for the brilliant red bracts that surround the cone-like flower heads.
The vivid red bracts gradually fade to creamy tones as they mature, creating a long-lasting and changing display at the tips of the branches. The stems are highly valued for cut-flower arrangements due to their excellent vase life and strong architectural form.
‘Safari Sunset’ performs best in full sun and acidic, well-drained soil. Once established it requires moderate watering, but phosphorus-rich fertilisers should be avoided as Leucadendrons are sensitive to phosphorus.
