Magnolia ‘Susan’ is a compact deciduous magnolia prized for its spectacular spring display of deep reddish-purple buds opening to fragrant, cup-shaped flowers with rich purple outer petals and softer pink interiors. Its naturally bushy, rounded habit makes it an excellent feature plant for garden beds, courtyards and smaller landscapes where a dramatic flowering specimen is desired.
Easy to grow once established, Magnolia ‘Susan’ performs best in a sheltered position with moist, well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. It requires minimal pruning and rewards gardeners with an impressive floral display before or as the new foliage emerges, making it a reliable ornamental choice for spring colour.
