Nandina domestica ‘Nana’ is a compact, slow-growing form of Heavenly Bamboo valued for its refined foliage, seasonal colour changes, and low-maintenance nature. Despite its common name, it is not a true bamboo, but an evergreen to semi-evergreen ornamental shrub with slender, cane-like stems and finely divided, lacy leaves.
Throughout the year, the foliage shifts in colour—from fresh green in spring and summer to rich red, bronze, and burgundy tones in cooler months. In addition, it produces delicate clusters of small white flowers, followed by bright red berries that provide extended ornamental and bird-attracting interest.
Its tidy, rounded habit makes it ideal for borders, mass planting, containers, and low hedging in both formal and informal gardens.
