Olea europaea 'Picual' (Picual Olive) is a highly regarded Spanish olive variety celebrated for its exceptional oil quality and robust growth habit. This vigorous tree features the characteristic silvery-green foliage of olives and produces medium to large fruits with very high oil content and a distinctive, slightly bitter flavour with peppery notes. The fruits have a high stability oil that resists oxidation, making it one of the most popular varieties for premium olive oil production. Its strong, upright growth and reliable yields make it excellent for both commercial orchards and home gardens.
Well-suited to Mediterranean climates, 'Picual' thrives in well-drained soils and full sun. It demonstrates excellent drought tolerance once established and shows good resistance to common olive diseases and frost. This variety is particularly valued for its high productivity, oil quality, and adaptability to various growing conditions.
