Ozothamnus diosmifolius ‘Pink’, commonly known as Pink Rice Flower, is a small, erect Australian native shrub growing 1.2–1.8 m (4–6 ft) tall. Naturally occurring in coastal and near-coastal regions of New South Wales and Queensland, it is valued for its long-lasting, clustered flowers that make it a favorite in cut flower arrangements.
The foliage consists of small, linear leaves, approximately 12 mm long, giving the shrub a fine-textured, airy appearance. The flower clusters, or inflorescences, occur at the branch tips and may contain 20–100 flowers, ranging from white to soft or vibrant shades of pink. These blooms attract pollinators and provide garden interest from late winter to spring.
This species is hardy and adaptable, thriving in well-drained soils under full sun to partial shade. It tolerates moderate frost and benefits from occasional pruning to maintain shape, especially after 3–4 seasons when it may naturally become straggly. Ozothamnus diosmifolius is widely cultivated for both garden aesthetics and the commercial cut flower industry.
