Juncus continuus is a rhizomatous perennial rush native to Australia, commonly found in wetlands, damp grasslands, and along riverbanks. It forms upright, slender culms that are terete, yellow-green, and range from 35–115 cm in height, with fine striations along their length. The culms have a continuous pith and arise from a network of spreading rhizomes, allowing the plant to form dense clumps over time.

The plant produces pseudolateral, diffuse inflorescences 2–12 cm long, with numerous solitary or loosely clustered flowers. Tepals are straw-brown with darker midrib bands and hyaline margins, and the three stamens are shorter than the outer tepals. The resulting capsules are ellipsoid to ovoid, obtuse, dark golden brown, and roughly the same length as the outer tepals.
