Plectranthus parviflorus (Little Spurflower / Cockspur Flower) is a low-growing, decumbent to ascending perennial herb reaching up to 30 cm in height. It forms spreading patches with slender stems and narrow, lance-shaped leaves, often marked with a distinctive purplish blotch on the upper surface. The foliage may also show fine hairs along the veins and margins, adding subtle texture.
The plant produces elongated, slender flower spikes measuring 2–6 cm long. These delicate, cylindrical spikes carry small flowers that create a soft, understated display through the growing season. Following flowering, small dark brown to black seeds (achenes) develop, contributing to natural regeneration. Adaptable and resilient, Persicaria decipiens thrives in moist environments such as wetlands, creek margins, and damp garden beds, making it a useful species for ecological plantings and water-wise landscapes.
