Plum ‘Mariposa’, commonly known as Mariposa Blood Plum, is a popular Japanese variety renowned for its medium to large fruit with dark red skin and deep crimson flesh. The flesh is sweet, juicy, and richly flavored, making it perfect for fresh eating, preserving, and baking. Known for its consistent yields and excellent eating quality, Mariposa is one of the most widely grown blood plums.
Mariposa Plum is partially self-fertile but produces heavier crops when grown alongside another Japanese plum variety such as Satsuma or Santa Rosa. It thrives in full sun with well-drained soil and rewards growers with abundant fruit in late summer, making it an excellent choice for both home gardens and orchards.
