Prunus domestica ‘Greengage’ (Dwarf Greengage Plum)

Prunus domestica ‘Greengage’, commonly known as Dwarf Greengage Plum, is a delightful fruit tree prized for its sweet, juicy green plums and attractive spring blossoms. The rounded fruits typically develop green to yellow-green skin with soft, sweet flesh that is excellent for fresh eating, desserts, jams and preserves. Its compact dwarf form makes it a practical choice for smaller gardens, allowing gardeners to enjoy home-grown plums without needing the space required by a full-sized fruit tree.

Ideal for courtyards, backyard orchards and large containers, Prunus domestica ‘Greengage’ offers both ornamental beauty and a rewarding harvest. In spring, its delicate white flowers add seasonal interest before the fruit develops through the warmer months. Plant in a sunny position with well-drained soil and provide regular watering during dry periods, particularly while the tree is establishing and when fruit is developing. Check pollination requirements before planting, as fruit production may depend on the variety and the presence of a compatible pollinator.
