Spring Satin Plumcot is a distinctive deciduous fruit tree combining the rich, juicy flavour of a plum with the delicate sweetness of an apricot. It produces attractive white spring blossoms followed by medium-sized, rounded fruit with smooth, dark reddish-purple skin and vibrant golden-yellow flesh. The tender, sweet fruit is delicious eaten fresh and is also suitable for cooking, stewing, preserves and jams.
Growing to approximately 3 metres tall and wide, Spring Satin is an excellent choice for home orchards and productive backyards. It performs best in full sun with fertile, freely draining soil and produces an early harvest from November to early December in suitable Australian climates. The tree is partially self-pollinating, but planting a compatible Japanese plum such as ‘Santa Rosa’ nearby can improve fruit set and overall yield.
