Ptychosperma elegans, commonly known as Solitaire Palm, is an elegant Australian native palm valued for its slender trunk, smooth crownshaft and graceful arching fronds. Native to coastal rainforests of eastern Queensland, it brings a refined tropical character to warm-climate gardens and landscape designs.

The palm develops a slim light grey to almost white trunk, marked by distinctive dark leaf scars that gradually become lighter with age. Above the trunk sits a smooth, waxy olive-green crownshaft from which the long pinnate fronds emerge. The dark green leaves can reach approximately 1.8–2.4m in length, with leaflets arranged in an attractive V-shaped pattern.

Branched green-yellow flower clusters emerge beneath the crownshaft and produce small white flowers, followed by ornamental bright red, egg-shaped fruits. Its narrow upright form makes it particularly useful where a tropical palm is desired without taking up excessive ground space.
