Rosa ‘Leander’ (Leander English Shrub Rose)

Rosa ‘Leander’ is a vigorous David Austin English shrub rose known for its richly coloured, very double flowers in warm shades of deep apricot and apricot-pink. The medium-sized, rosette-shaped blooms appear in clusters and carry a pleasant tea-to-fruity fragrance. Introduced by David Austin in 1982 under the cultivar name ‘AUSlea’, it combines the romantic flower form of an old-fashioned rose with strong, substantial growth.

With its large, upright and bushy habit, ‘Leander’ makes an impressive feature rose and is particularly useful towards the back of borders or in cottage-style gardens. It is repeat flowering, producing flushes through the warmer months, and performs best in full sun with fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Its vigorous growth can also allow it to be trained against suitable supports.
