Rosa ‘The Poet’s Wife’ is a beautiful David Austin English Shrub Rose, breeder code AUSwhirl (PBR), introduced in 2014. It produces large, richly yellow, cupped flowers with a neat outer ring of petals surrounding a more informal centre. The blooms gradually soften to a paler yellow as they mature, creating attractive variation across the plant. Its strong fruity fragrance has distinctive lemon notes and becomes sweeter as the flowers age.
The plant develops into a bushy, rounded shrub with gently arching branches and healthy, glossy foliage. Repeat flowering from late spring into early winter provides an extended display, making it an excellent choice for mixed borders, rose beds, feature planting and containers. It performs in full sun and can also tolerate partial sunlight, making it a versatile David Austin rose for Australian gardens.
