Selliera Radicans (Shiny Swamp Mat / Remuremu)

Selliera Radicans (Shiny Swamp Mat / Remuremu) is a low-growing, creeping perennial herb that forms dense, matted groundcover through its far-spreading stems that root readily at the nodes. This growth habit allows it to create lush carpets up to 50 cm or more in diameter, making it ideal for filling spaces in moist environments.

The plant features glossy, somewhat fleshy leaves that vary in shape—from narrow and spoon-like to obovate or linear—often occurring in small clusters along slender stems. Its delicate flowers are borne singly on slender stalks, displaying white to very pale blue petals in a distinctive fan-like form, adding a soft ornamental touch. Naturally suited to damp and coastal habitats, Selliera radicans thrives in moist to wet soils and tolerates light salinity.
