Sempervivum 'Mahogany' is a hardy evergreen succulent admired for its rich burgundy to mahogany-red rosettes and exceptional cold tolerance. Native to the mountainous regions of Europe and Asia, this resilient variety thrives in rocky, well-drained soils where many other plants struggle, making it an outstanding choice for rockeries, alpine gardens, containers, and green roofs.
Its perfectly symmetrical rosettes feature thick, fleshy leaves that develop deep mahogany-red tones with subtle green highlights near the base. The foliage colour intensifies in full sun, creating a striking display throughout the year. As the plant matures, it produces numerous offsets that spread to form dense, colourful mats with very little maintenance.
During summer, mature rosettes send up tall flower stalks bearing clusters of attractive star-shaped pink flowers. Like all Sempervivum varieties, the flowering rosette naturally dies after blooming, but surrounding offsets continue to grow and quickly replace it, ensuring an ongoing display.
Exceptionally drought-tolerant, frost-hardy, and easy to grow, Sempervivum 'Mahogany' is perfect for gardeners seeking a colourful, low-maintenance succulent that performs equally well indoors in bright light or outdoors year-round.
