Sesuvium portulacastrum, commonly known as Sea Purslane, is a hardy, low-growing succulent groundcover admired for its fleshy, bright green leaves and delicate pink to purple flowers. Its thick, trailing stems spread naturally across the ground, forming a dense carpet of attractive foliage that adds texture and greenery to coastal gardens, rockeries and landscaped areas.
This resilient, low-maintenance plant thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, offering excellent tolerance to salt spray, sandy conditions and periods of drought once established. Its spreading growth habit makes it ideal for erosion control, coastal landscaping, garden borders and groundcover planting. Occasional trimming helps control its spread and maintain a neat appearance.
