Syringa vulgaris ‘Sweetheart’ is a beautiful, medium-sized deciduous lilac known for its large, highly scented flower bracts that last for several weeks. Its blooms open in soft shades of light pink and mauve, with individual florets maturing at different times—creating a charming two-tone effect.
This variety grows reliably in full sun and thrives in well-drained, fertile, humus-rich soils, particularly those that are neutral to alkaline or chalky. After 10 years, it reaches around 3–4 metres high and 2 metres wide, forming a classic lilac shrub ideal for mixed borders, hedging, cottage gardens, or as a fragrant specimen plant.
