Ulmus parvifolia ‘Emer II’ Allee® is an impressive ornamental deciduous tree admired for its tall, upright growth habit and gracefully arching branches. Unlike many other Chinese Elm cultivars, it develops a distinctive architectural form reminiscent of the majestic American Elm, making it an excellent choice for avenues, parks and spacious landscapes.
One of its most attractive features is its beautifully exfoliating bark, which reveals an intricate mosaic of orange, tan and grey tones as the tree matures. This colourful bark provides year-round visual interest, particularly during winter when the tree has shed its foliage.
Discovered by Dr Michael Dirr of the University of Georgia, this distinctive cultivar combines an elegant branching structure with attractive bark and adaptability. It is an excellent specimen tree for large gardens, streetscapes and formal landscape designs.
