Wollemia nobilis, commonly known as the Wollemi Pine, is one of the world’s most remarkable and rare conifers. Discovered in 1994 in a remote canyon within Wollemi National Park, approximately 200km northwest of Sydney, this extraordinary species was previously unknown to modern science and is the only species in its genus.

The Wollemi Pine is an evergreen conifer with an unusual multi-stemmed growth habit and distinctive bubbly or knobbly bark. Its deep green foliage forms attractive sprays along the branches, while new growth often emerges in contrasting lighter green tones.

Once known only from a tiny wild population in its secluded natural habitat, the species is now cultivated in botanic gardens and private collections around the world. It is a fascinating choice for collectors and gardeners seeking an unusual Australian native with exceptional botanical significance.
